Ihram and flights
Can I put on ihram at home or at the airport before my flight?
Yes. The ihram clothing alone is not ihram, so its rules do not bind you until you make the intention and recite the talbiyah. Do that before the plane crosses the miqat.

Choosing when to dress
On an airline with prayer and changing facilities, such as Saudi Airlines, you may put on your ihram on the plane, and the crew usually announce when the miqat is near. This can be difficult, especially on a first journey.
On an airline without those facilities, it is advised to put on your ihram at the departure airport. Check in first, then change in the prayer room. If your flight stops in another country, you can change at the stop.
The intention comes later
Bathe, dress and pray the two rak'ahs before you board if you wish, but make the intention and talbiyah when the crew announce the miqat. If there is no announcement, make them about an hour before landing to be safe. See the miqat for UK flights.

Where do I change if my flight stops in another country?
You can change at the stop.
What should I pack?
See the Umrah checklist for ihram sheets, a belt and unscented toiletries.
